In 2013, I joined the steering committee for Gender Personal. I played a major role in writing and editing web and print copy for the organization, which uses art and poetry exhibits to raise awareness of gender—in particular, transgender issues.
I’m the webmaster and project photographer for GenderPersonal.org, which raises public awareness of gender issues through recorded interviews and original multimedia (paintings, poetry, recorded interviews, and photos).
I co-wrote this HTML newsletter with project founder Jacqui Beck. I then did all the graphic layout, coding, testing, and dissemination of the newsletter using MailChimp. Click the image to view the actual newsletter in your browser.
Gender Personal (GenderPersonal.org) is the creation of Seattle artist Jacqui Beck. It’s an exploration and celebration of gender variance. When her teenage child came out as transgender, Jacqui interviewed 8 gender-variant people to learn more. She then turned to her painting and poetry as a means to express what she was learning.
After meeting Jacqui through a mutual friend, I decided to lend a hand to the project, contributing my skills as a web designer-developer and also as a photographer.
Matman Wrestling Company is a major manufacturer and distributor of wrestling uniforms and gear. I’ve worked with them over 10 years, first creating their Flash interactive Uniform Builder and later taking them through three iterations of their website. The current site features:
- Custom XML-driven CMS for displaying products
- Shopatron integration for online purchases
- Integration with Facebook and HTML email
Periodically, I send emails to promote my nature photography.
